Ben Tracy Announces Safe Social Network Scholarship Recipients
On Monday, May 10, Ben Tracy announced the two Safe Social Network Scholarship winners, Nina Vaughn and Chance Herie.
Nina Vaughn from Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Spring Hill, FL and Chance Herie from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, MO will each receive a $1,000 scholarship for their actions advocating for mental health awareness, anti-bullying and positive social media use.
Nina Vaughn is a member of Best Buddies and the Service Learning Program where she assists students with mental health disorders in group and one-on-one settings. In high school, Nina stood up for other students who couldn't always speak up for themselves. After experiencing this feeling of fulfillment, Nina decided she didn't want it to end after high school. Her career goal is to become a Psychologist or Psychiatrist. She will attend Florida State University and major in Psychology
After tragically losing his older brother, Chance Herie made the decision to promote mental health awareness. He attended a conference for the International Bullying Prevention Association where he learned how to have a positive impact at his school. Chance will attend Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas where he will play baseball and study Physical Therapy.
Congratulations to Nina and Chance! Thank you for making the world a better place!
