VIDEO: How Online Predators Use Sextortion to Exploit Their Victims

In this video, Ben Tracy from Safe Social network shares the story of a 16-year-old girl who was exploited by a 50-year-old pedophile who used a fake Instagram profile to contact her.

This pedophile posed as a teenage boy and convinced the girl to send him an inappropriate photo of herself. Once the girl found out this was actually a grown man, not a teenage boy, he threatened to send the inappropriate photo to the girl’s family, friends and coaches if she did not send him more inappropriate photos or agree to meet him.

This is known as sextortion, which is a threat to expose sexual images or videos in order to make a person do something.
