Advocacy fueled by tragedy.
James Timothy Woods was a vibrant 17-year-old high school student with a passion for running, competing year-round in track, cross country, and indoor track. Known for his charisma, humor, and kindness, James had a magnetic personality that brought joy to everyone around him. Tragically, his life was cut short on November 19, 2022, after falling victim to sextortion—cybercriminals extorted, harassed, and mentally tortured him, leading to his devastating decision to take his life. In response, his parents, Tamia and Tim Woods, took immediate action, sharing James’ story to raise awareness about sextortion and teen mental health. They founded the Do It For James Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to educating families, supporting mental health, and providing scholarships for young runners. Through their advocacy, James’ legacy continues to inspire and protect others.
